and there is one puppy left....PRIMA!
Puppy arrivals started on June 20, 2011 when 8 Singe x Steeple puppies were born. Nineteen days later Shale had her first litter of 6 pups sired by Bru.
Just six days after the birth of Shale's puppies Trace was scheduled for her C section of which she produced 6 more puppies sired by Klepto.
The fourth and final summer litter was presented to Hob Nob farm seven days following Trace's litter with the Magnificent 7 from Posh & Bezel.
Hob Nob farm became Puppy Central for the summer months!
Raising 4 litters within several weeks of each other is very rewarding but not without its share of highs and lows! With the wonderful smell of puppy breath comes the overwhelming aroma of puppy poop! Thankfully, puppies learn to use the potty pans quite well by the time they are 4 to 5 weeks of age which helps tremendously!
Bottle feedings are supplemented to give the smaller pups what they need to keep up with the bigger siblings and help ease the burden to the moms. It can often be a stressful time for sure!
My roommate Gail Smith is a tremendous help in the mornings cleaning puppy pens while I attend to the adult dogs feedings and potty turns.
My favorite time is when the puppies eyes and ears open and they can then see and hear my voice!
I know that our playtimes together are just around the corner!
Playing with the puppies is my favorite activity after the arduous work of cleaning after them:>)
And just think, I had 27 wonderful puppies all to myself to cuddle, kiss and play with...what could be better then that!
I love having puppies during the summer months as they get to play outside and have fun with visitors of all ages!
Two year old Jacob came to visit on two occasions and I think I had as much fun watching the puppies interact with him as Jacob was having!
Thanks Jacob and your mom Jenn for bringing you to play with the puppies!
My BFF Kim Terrill was ready to add a Steeple puppy to her family and I was happy to raise this special litter for her!
Singe was the chosen wife for Steeple for their second wedding anniversary to which she presented Kim with the handsome boy now known as Hob Nob Classic Force of Power!
Force can be seen in these two trailers:
My other BFF Carol Schiefer also felt she was ready to start another puppy and anxiously awaited for her lovely girl Trace to come in heat.
Klepto was chosen to be the daddy as Carol and Trace flew up to WA for the rendezvous.
I was more than happy to raise the litter for Carol even though I knew this would make it a total of 4 litters to raise at the same time!
All the hard work is all made worth while to see the smiling faces of my best friends as they are presented with their new bundles of joy!
I anticipate wonderful journeys for these equally wonderful friends and their new wonder pups!
While I have had my favorites in each litter, none touched my heart as did my little hero McQueen from the Posh x Bezel litter.
One night, around 10 pm, when he was just 3 weeks old, I noticed that he was not feeling well. After assessing his situation, I felt he needed immediate care and more then I could give him so Gail and I brought him to pet emergency. His condition was very guarded as they immediately put him on IV fluids and such to which he remained the night. McQueen spent the next day at my own vet continuing on IV fluids throughout the day and later being allowed to come home.
While it was a very stressful time for me, I cried tears of joy to see my little McQueen thrive!
While the 'puppy cottage' is empty and closed for the season, there is no shortage of puppy love as my own Prima is sure to fill that void!
Until the next batch, that'll do Jan....that'll do!
